So, I have two new sites, one of which is Ultrarunning
World a new magazine focussed on UK, Euro and World ultrarunning
- in that order. It's a really exciting project and we shall see how
it develops.
Multidays is going very well in terms of traffic and has developed a
reputation as the place to go for news about multiday running
events.
The long awaited delopement of this site is approaching and within the
next month (fingers crossed) will be implementing a new content management
system to breathe some new life into Abichal.com.
The 'stairway of existence'
We are not in pursuit of 'formalities'
Or fake 'religious laws,'
For 'through' the 'stairway of existence'
We have come to god's 'door.'
We are people who need to Love,
because Love is the soul's Life,
Love is creation's greatest joy.
Through the 'stairway of existence,'
O, through the 'stairway of existence,'
Hafiz have you now come,
Have we all now come
To the 'beloved's door.'
~ Hafiz ~

Mind
Mind is a wonderful force inherent in the Self. That which
arises in this body as 'I' is the mind. When the subtle mind emerges
through the brain and the senses, the gross names and forms are cognized.
When it remains in the Heart, names and forms disappear. If the mind
remains in the Heart, the 'I' or the ego which is the source of all
thoughts will go, and the Self, the Real, Eternal 'I' alone will shine.
Where there is not the slightest trace of the ego, there is the Self.

In people with devotion,
even with limited intellect,
the intellect is not making mischief,
as it is here.
This is the place where the intellect gets annihilated.

The 'Center' of the Universe is 'everywhere'
Without consciousness,
Time and space do not 'exist' ..
They appear within 'consciousness'
But have no 'reality' of their own.
It is like a screen on which
All this is cast as 'pictures'
And move - as in a 'cinema show.
The 'Absolute Consciousness' - alone
Is our 'real' nature.

There are no limits.
There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.
If it kills you, it kills you.
A man must constantly exceed his level.

Infinite Oneness
How can the 'infinite Oneness' ..
Be 'seen' ?
In beautiful forms ?
Breath taking wonders ?
In awe-inspiring miracles ?
The 'infinite Oneness'
Is not obliged
To 'present itself' this way
It is always present
And always available
When speech is exhausted
And 'mind dissolved'
It presents itself
When clarity and purity are cultivated
It reveals itself
When sincerity is unconditional
It unveils itself
If you are willing to be lived by it
You will 'see' it - 'Everywhere' ..
Even 'in' the most 'ordinary' things.

OUTER VOICE, INNER CHOICE
His outer voice
Ruthlessly frightens him.
His inner voice
Unreservedly enlightens him.
His outer choice
Triumphantly binds him.
His inner choice
Unconditionally liberates him.

Where Do You Stand
Tell me
In a whisper
Now that you are blest
Are we to become strangers
Have the mountains lost their majesty
Now that all your fears have been laid to rest
Where do you stand when there is no longer a need to second guess
i have waited as quietly as the night that guards the desert
Was hallowed love truly the pinnacle
Of your quest

The seed of all Things
Know me
as the eternal
seed of all beings.
I am intelligence
of the intelligent ...
I am the soul
that abides ..
in the 'heart'
of all beings.
By me is pervaded
all this universe ..
By me
in the form
of the unmanifest.
All beings rest 'in me' ...

The thirty spokes unite in the one nave; but it is on the
empty
space (for the axle), that the use of the wheel depends. Clay is
fashioned into vessels; but it is on their empty hollowness, that
their use depends. The door and windows are cut out (from the walls)
to form an apartment; but it is on the empty space (within), that its
use depends. Therefore, what has a (positive) existence serves for
profitable adaptation, and what has not that for (actual) usefulness.

Tzu (trans. Legge)

Shun asked Ch'eng saying, ‘Can one get the 'Way' so as to have it
for ‘one's own?
Your very body, replied Ch'eng, is not your 'own.'
How should the 'Way' be?
If my body, said Shun, is not 'my own,' pray 'whose' is it?
It is the delegated image of .. the 'Way,' replied Ch'eng.
Your life is not your own. It is the delegated harmony
of the 'Way.' Your individuality is not 'your own.'
It is the delegated adaptability of the 'Way'. You move,
but know not how. You are at rest, but know not why.
These are the operations of the laws of the 'Way.'
How then should you get the 'Way' so as to have it
for your 'own?

The tiny particles
which form the vast universe
are not tiny at all
Neither is
the vast universe vast
These are notions
of the mind ..
which is like a 'knife'
Always chipping away
at the integral'Way' ..
Trying to render it
'graspable'
and 'manageable'
But that which is'beyond'
'form'
is ungraspable
And that which is'beyond'
'knowing'
is unmanageable
There is, however
this consolation ..
She who lets go of the 'knife' ..
will find the'Way'
.. at her fingertips ..

Man..
'what' thou are
is 'hidden'
from thyself
Know'st not that morning
midday, and the eve
Are all 'within' Thee?
The ninth 'heaven' art Thou
And from the spheres ..
Into the roar of time
Didst fall ere-while
Thou art the brush
that painted ..
the hues of all the world ..
.. The light of life
That ranged its glory
in the nothingness ..

Vedanta claims that man is divine. To quote the words
of Vivekananda: “Man is like an infinite spring, coiled up in a
small box, and that spring is trying to unfold itself.” All struggles,
individual or social are the result of this attempt to unfold. When the
struggle becomes a conscious effort, it is spiritual. As long as the ideal
of life and of life’s struggles remain unknown we waste our effort
and go round in a circle; and howsoever we may attempt to find happiness
or freedom in our individual lives, or to bring the millennium on earth,
the result is failure and disappointment. Through our failures and disappointments,
however, we at last wake up to our spiritual heritage.
Swami
Prabhavananda
The dart wherewith He wounded me
Was all embarbed round with love,
And thus my spirit came to be
One with its Maker, God above.
No love but this I need to prove:
My life to God surrender’d is
And my Beloved one is mine
And I at last am surely his.
St.
Theresa of Avila
